Xzibit is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Shopfitter to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and develop essential skills, working on unique and high-quality projects where you will assist experienced tradespeople across temporary and permanent exhibitions. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and have a genuine interest in hands-on craftsmanship.
Responsibilities:
Fabrication and Preparation:
- Assist in the preparation of materials, including cutting, shaping, and assembling components.
- Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Site Preparation and Cleanup:
- Assist in the preparation of work sites, including protecting surfaces and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout the project.
- Assist in the cleanup and removal of debris upon project completion.
Material Handling and Storage:
- Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of materials.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage.
- Assist in the fabrication of custom elements, as required.
Assist with Installation:
- Assist in the installation of shopfitting components, including cabinetry, partitions, ceilings, flooring, and fixtures, according to plans and specifications.
- Learn to interpret and follow technical drawings and plans.
- Assist in the accurate measurement and marking of materials.
Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Learning and Development:
- Actively participate in on-the-job training and formal apprenticeship program.
- Seek opportunities to learn new skills and techniques.
- Maintain a logbook of training and work experience.
- Perform other duties as required.
The successful candidate must have:
- Genuine interest in shopfitting, carpentry & joinery trades.
- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of hand and power tools (or willingness to learn).
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
- Certificate 1 in Construction (White Card)
- Valid drivers license, or reliable transportation.
